Chitra journey is a powerful example of how opportunity, skill development, and community support can transform a woman’s life. Her story reflects the true spirit of the PSS Project aimed at empowering women through financial literacy and entrepreneurship.
Chitra became a member of the Ekta Self-Help Group, where she received guidance and encouragement to explore her talents. Through
the PSS SAKHI Project, she participated in various skill-enhancement workshops such as candle making, jewellery crafting, and entrepreneurship training. These programs not only taught her new skills but also instilled confidence and self-reliance.
With the support of the group, Chitra availed a loan at a nominal 2% interest rate. This financial assistance became a turning point in her life. She used it wisely to support her children’s education and to start small business ventures. Today, Chitra manages multiple income-generating activities. She works as a tuition teacher, runs a jewellery and sari business, and also operates a small nursery. These diverse income streams have made her financially stable and independent.
Her disciplined and responsible approach helped her successfully repay the loan using earnings from her tuition fees and business profits. This achievement stands as a proud milestone and reflects her strong commitment to growth and financial responsibility. Chitra’s journey is not just about earning money—it is about self-confidence, determination, and empowerment. The Ekta Self-Help Group provided her with more than financial support; it gave her a platform to dream bigger and believe in her own abilities.
Today, she stands as an inspiration to other women in her community, proving that with the right guidance
and opportunities, any woman can transform her life. Chitra’s story truly embodies the essence of PSS SAKHI PROJECT — self-respect, self-reliance, and the power to shape one’s own destiny.
