Belief: Unfortunately women in the society are not treated at par with the men folks. Women have always been neglected in the social hierarchy. The work done by women – be it in the house or in the society – is often termed as unproductive and also their opinion – whether it is related to home or society – is never considered. In this backdrop it is important that self awareness is spread among the women to boost their thought process and expand their horizon for self development. The Organisation has focused especially on Self Help Group and Panchayat Raj when working with the women. The Organisation has been effective in raising 210 self help groups in Surgana Block and 75 in Peth Block & Dindori 25 under Swarna Jayanti Gramswarajya Yojana of Zilla Parishad, DRDA, Nashik. All the groups belong to the people under the poverty line (BPL) and their accounts have been opened in the nationalized banks.

The SHGs have regularized the collection Rs 10 to Rs 200 and as such every year each person collects around Rs 6120 to Rs 73440 annually in Peth Block and Rs. 172320 annually in Surgana Blocks. The total savings comes to Rs 245760. Given the performance of SHGs the banks have graded 59 of them in Grade I and given the working capital of Rs 25000. The SHGs are planning to set up a business for which training will also be imparted to the members. So also 22 of the SHGs have been asked to cook food for children under Sarva Shiksha Abhiyaan Zilla Parishad (Z.P) besides given Fair Price Shop under Public Distribution Scheme, kerosene sales centre by the Gramsabha especially for their transparency. Members of nine SHGs were sent on a study tour to villages where ‘Defecating in the open’ is completely banned and alternate arrangements have been made for the purpose and also the ‘Ideal Villages’.
