Seema Rakshe, a homemaker from DHARAVI, Mumbai, once lived a life cantered only around household responsibilities. Like many women, she wished to contribute financially to her family but lacked the resources and guidance to start something of her own.
Her life took a positive turn when she became a member of the Gayatri Self-Help Group under the PSS – SAKHI Project. The project aims to empower women by providing financial assistance, skill development, and entrepreneurial support.
Through her Self-Help Group, Seema availed a bank loan of ₹1, 00,000, which became the foundation of her new business. With this support, she purchased a Gharghanti (flour grinding machine) and essential equipment for starting a masala-making business.
Along with financial help, Seema participated in the “Masala Making” training program organized by the PSS –SAKHI Project. This training taught her practical skills such as preparing different varieties of spices, maintaining quality, and managing production efficiently. The knowledge she gained helped her run her business confidently and professionally.
Today, Seema is no longer just a homemaker—she is a self-reliant entrepreneur. Her flour and masala business has become a stable source of income, giving her financial independence and confidence.
Seema’s journey is a strong example of how the SAKHI Project transforms lives by providing the right mix of financial support, training, and encouragement. She has become an inspiration to other women in her community, proving that with opportunity and determination, every woman can create her own success story.
Seema Rakshe’s story reflects the true spirit of SAKHI PROJECT
Empowering women to stand on their own feet and build a better future.
