The SAKHI Programme, has become a powerful platform for empowering women through skill development and financial support. Training
programs in dhoop-agarbatti making, candle making, and jewellery crafting have opened new doors of opportunity for many women seeking financial independence.
Among these empowered women is Vrunda Madhye, a homemaker and member of the Pragati Self-Help Group. For Vrunda, the Self-Help Group became more than just a financial cooperative—it became a support system and a sisterhood that encouraged women to believe in their abilities and dreams.
Vrunda had a keen interest in traditional jewellery and saw the potential to turn her skill into a business. With the support of her Self-Help Group, she invested a modest amount of ₹10,000 to start her jewellery venture. Her primary motivation was to secure a better future and education for her children.
She actively participated in jewellery stall exhibitions organized through the group. These efforts helped her earn a steady income of around ₹9,000 per month. With disciplined financial planning, she repaid her loan through a small monthly instalment of ₹500, proving her commitment and responsibility.
Every instalments she paid was not just a repayment—it was a step toward financial freedom and confidence. Through this journey, Vrunda transformed from a homemaker into a selfreliant entrepreneur.
Today, Vrunda is not only financially empowered but also an inspiration to other women in her community. Her story reflects the true spirit of the PSS – SAKHI Programme—where women support one another, build businesses, and shape their own destinies.
Vrunda Madhye’s journey proves that with opportunity, guidance, and collective support, women can rise above challenges and create a brighter future for themselves and their families.
